DicingDangers is a browser based online fantasy role playing game. Such games are known as an MMO or MMORPG.

It is free to play but players are encouraged to donate towards the costs which pay for the server, advertising and any other related costs. In exchange for donations, players get tokens that can be spent on Action Points. Players do not have to donate and there is little a non donating player can’t do that a donating player can do.

The original concept of DicingDangers was that it could be played every day for an hour or two. All players get 3000 Action Points to spend in game on game actions. They regenerate at 3 Action Points per minute. Depending on the player’s activities 3000 Action Points should last around 1 hour.

The game is set in a fantasy world called Gonrah. Gonrah is a land of faery and possibly linked to our own Arthurian Legends world although game play is set only in Gonrah.

History
It was one of the original role-playing games on facebook but quickly moved to its own website with its own registration process.

The fan-base has been constant and loyal through its many changes and the cult following has made the game a fun, active and friendly community.

Nikolai
Developed by Nikolai Bird aka Fenris in 2007, the game is built using PHP and a MySQL database using an Apache server. All programming, design and illustrations are by Nikolai, who is a professional web designer and developer.

Nikolai developed the game for fun and to keep up to date with the latest developments in PHP and MySQL.

Nikolai’s history of gaming goes back many years to paper and pencil gaming as a key member of the role-playing club DMF in Lund in Sweden during the 90s.

Nikolai has also illustrated four published children’s book in the USA, as well as worked as a full time artist selling over 1,500 paintings.

In the early 90s Nikolai was a TV presenter on a local student TV station. He presented a cookery program which was odd as Nikolai can’t in any way cook.

Today Nikolai lives in Sussex, England with his wife and two children.
